QUENCHING THE SPIRIT

Father God,

No one can prevent You
from accomplishing Your work.

Forgive me Father for the times
I have quenched Your Spirit,
by withstanding His activities
in my life, ignoring, disobeying,
or rejecting what He is telling me.

The prophet Isaiah described the result:

"Hearing you will hear
and not understand,
and seeing you will see
and not perceive;
For the hearts of this people
have grown dull.

Their ears are hard of hearing,
and their eyes closed,
lest they should see with their eyes
and hear with their ears,
lest they should understand
with their hearts and turn
so that I should heal them"
(Isa. 6:9; Matt. 13:14-15).

Truly, anything that is not used
eventually becomes inoperable.
Man are like machines,
which can obtain rust or be dried up
if not properly oiled and lubricated.

It's parts can malfunction
or not function at all
if not properly maintained.

Your Spirit does all this to us,
keeping us in shape
for the road that lies ahead of us.

May Your words
penetrate our hearts
as a source of healing,
repairing all the defects
that sin have caused in our lives
so that we may be formed back
in the image and likeness of Your Son,
our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Thank You dear Father,
for giving us the grace
to be part of a
God centered community.

All glory and praise to You
Most Loving and eternal Father,
now and forever. Amen.
