IS IT LAWFUL?

In Luke 14:3, the Lord asked, " Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath, or not?" For every rule, there is an exception . . .

In cases of emergencies, where we need to rush a patient to the hospital, we can switch on the hazard lights of our car. This gives us some sort of a special pass to break some traffic laws such as over speeding, going through red lights or even driving in the opposite lane, in order to immediately arrive at our destination. If another car in front of us seem to block our way, we can beep our horn and when the driver sees that our hazard lights are on, he allows us to pass through him and giving way out of courtesy.

Laws are usually absolute and are meant to be strictly followed but when it comes to the preservation of life, a person can be acquitted for defending his own life or the life of others.

Lawyers and professionals have the tendency to go by the book so to speak. They become legalistic rather than being compassionate and just. It is easier for them to prosecute somone rather than understanding where he is coming from. The underlying reason is plain and simple, it is not of their concern or they do not care less. What is important for them is their belief that a law brings order to people and not strictly obeserving them would bring chaos or disorder.

Their perception will only change if they become the victim themselves. . .

This brings me to the reality in church life. There will always be people who will criticize you regardless of the good things that you have done. No ifs and no buts, they just wanted you out! The easiest way to do this is to destroy your personality and credibility.

If your eyes are not set and focused on the Lord, your basic instinct will be to pack-up, get out, and leave. In my long years of service, I got used to these kinds of people who project themselves as persons who seem to know all, undermining other's talents and abilities.

These are the kinds of people that are "short-lived" in the church. When the going gets rough and its time for them to be the victims or object of redicule and criticism from other people who possess personalities similar to them, they back-out and worse, back-stab the church.

They tend to loose sight of the fact that they were called to be holy, as God is holy. God expects them to lift up one another, most especially those who onced live in darkness and sin. They all belong to the one body of Christ, and people perceives them to be Christlike in terms of their relationships with one another. Anything less than these, disappoints the congregation.

Being judgmental and negatively critical to others only brings division in the house. Although I belong to this sad reality in church life, God in His goodness and grace has lifted me up in a plain where I am comfortable under His wings. Many will attempt to destroy His church but it shall stand for all time. I would rather choose to be an instrument of healing than be a part of the forces that destroys the good that the Lord has built upon us.

To serve the Lord and others is like a hazard light that is turned on. There is no time to loose and no time to waste. Focused on Him and you will withstand all the trials that comes your way.
