In Ephesians 2:-3, Pauls says, "we all lived in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of body and mind, and so we were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind."
My desire is to be rich and successful so that my family can live in comfort and with utmost financial security. When I get old, I want to see the world and travel to places I have never been. I want to be like those rich and famous who enjoys a luxurious lifestyle. Life is short, so I will never settle for anything less. My goal is to have the best that life could offer. To achieve this, I must work hard and focus on my priorities. Serving the Lord? Sorry, that is not my priority at this time. . .
We will all be hypocrites if we say that we do not desire nor aspire for such good things in life. Even Paul admitted that it is the nature of man to follow the desires of the body and mind. The only problem is that we are all too busy to achieve our ambitions that we often neglect the fact that our main focus and priority is to strive to be holy. Life in the world is short but God tells us that life in its fullness is eternal.
At any given time, the author of life can call upon us to knock at His heavenly gates. Obviously, we can not bring all those material things we desired. Are we prepared to accept God's answer when He tells us, "Sorry, you are not My priority."? I guess it is time to re-think our priorities.
