In John 10:27, the Lord said, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me ..."
He who has a stronger voice often captures the attention of those listening. This is applicable to humans but not to a sheep. A sheep only recognizes the voice of his master and only him will the sheep obey and follow.
In the conduct of our daily lives, we hear a lot of voices everywhere. Voices that greatly influences our thoughts and decisions. We learn by listening to the voices of those whom we regard as teachers. We are enlightened after hearing the voices of those whom we regard as advisers and counselors. We are comforted by the voices of those who shares our concern. On the other hand, we can also find ourselves experiencing stress and anxieties by hearing the voices of those who spread gossips and intrigues against us.
If our desire is not be misled nor be misguided in our decisions and undertakings, then we must first listen to the voice of God. This is the wisdom that the Spirit brings in the gospel for today.
God wants only the best for you and He will surely bring out the best in you. In everything you do, recognize His voice as your one true Shepherd. His presence in you will wipe away all your troubles in life for He alone who created you, knows you from head to foot.
Reflection: To whom do you listen to?
Prayer: Lord, give me the wisdom to recognize your voice that will lead to a better life for me and my family.
