"Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?"
And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said,
"Here are my mother and my brothers!
For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven
is my brother, and sister, and mother."
Matthew 12:48-50
FAVORITISM OR PARTIALITY
My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others (Jas. 2:1)?
I will show partiality to no one, nor will I flatter any man (Jb. 32:21). Those who seemed to be important--whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not judge by external appearance--those men added nothing to my message (Gal. 2:6). I do not think I am in the least inferior to those "super-apostles" (2 Cor. 11:5). If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself (Gal. 6:3).
God does not show favoritism (Acts 10:34; Rom. 2:11) who shows no partiality to princes and does not favor the rich over the poor, for they are all the work of his hands (Jb. 34:19).
The LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality (Dt. 10:17). Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism (Col. 3:25). Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear (1 Pt. 1:17).
Let the fear of the LORD be upon you. Judge carefully, for with the LORD our God there is no injustice or partiality or bribery (2 Chr. 19:7) . Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly (Lv. 19:15).Do not show partiality in judging; hear both small and great alike. Do not be afraid of any man, for judgment belongs to God (Dt. 1:17). And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him (Eph. 6:9). If you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers (Jas. 2:9).
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb. 12:2). He made no distinction between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith (Act. 15:9). He would surely rebuke you if you secretly showed partiality (Jb. 13:10).
Who am I, O Sovereign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far (2 Sm. 7:18)? And as if this were not enough in your sight, O God, you have spoken about the future of the house of your servant. You have looked on me as though I were the most exalted of men, O LORD God (1 Chr. 17:17).
