"Truly, I say to you, it will be hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle
than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
Matthew 19:23-24
Man hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful (Mt. 13:22). He went away sad, because he had great wealth (Mt. 19:22).
Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf (Prv. 11:28). Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment (1 Tim. 6:17). A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished (Prov. 28:20).
People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction (1 Tim. 6:9). For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs (1 Tim. 6:10).
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God (2 Cor. 4:4). You used to live and followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient (Eph. 2:2). Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will (Rom. 12:2).
Jesus gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father (Gal. 1:4).
