WHO AM I?

Who do you say that I am? The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.

REFLECTION

The position seeks for the man and not the man seeking for the position. This is the principle I learned when I became a Rotarian and since then, it became one of my criteria in accepting positions and responsibilities.

Most if not all of the positions and responsibilities I have accepted in order to render voluntary service in civic, political, or religious affairs, did not emanate from my own personal ambitions or aspirations. I believed that it was all earned out of my sincere desire to serve. I have campaigned for others but have not yet experienced campaigning for myself because it somewhat runs counter with my principles. This is one of the very reasons why I can not answer positively those who were asking me today if I will run as a candidate in the coming Barangay elections.

Much as I would like to serve in this new arena, I could not reconcile its method to those of my principles. I guess this is the reason why many are questioning the true intent of those who signified their intentions to run as candidates. Is their heart really into serving the public?

This is also the time when our parish will be having a consultation for the purpose of naming the next set of servant leaders. The second and final leg of consultations will be done on Sunday, September 20, 2007. These series of consultations will help our parish priest in selecting and appointing leaders who truly have the heart to serve.

People sees who you are based on your track record or popularity but only God knows the intent of your heart.
