KNOWLEDGE OF GOD

He professes to have knowledge of God
and styles himself a child of the LORD.
Wisdom 2:13

LIFE IS SHORT

As it is written, "For they reasoned unsoundly, saying to themselves, 'Short and sorrowful is our life, and there is no remedy when a man comes to his end, and no one has been known to return from Hades'" (Ws 2:1).

Clearly, such a statement is described as an unsound reason. It speaks of a character that is negative and looks at life as limited and only confined in the world.

UNWILLING TO CHANGE

"Let us beset the just one, because he is obnoxious to us; he sets himself against our doings, reproaches us for transgressions of the law and charges us with violations of our training (Ws 2:12).

Jesus came as the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Him will not perish but will have eternal life. This truth was not acceptable to people who are not willing to change. To them, it is entirely the opposite of what they have learned about life. They considered Jesus as an insult to their thoughts and way of thinking. Instead of believing in the Lord, they plotted against Him.

THOUGHTS AND WAYS

Man's thoughts and ways are generally formed by the people and environment they grew up with. Usually, these come from their parents, teachers, and friends. Likewise, each place has its own distinct and unique culture and tradition that people observed.

Jesus knows this and for this reason He said, "God's thoughts are not Man's thoughts and His ways not our ways". The Lord wants us to have an open mind and heart to the truth. He came to change our wrong mindset about a God who punishes people for their wrongdoings, to a God our Father who is willing to embrace back His child because of His unconditional love.

As it is written, "He professes to have knowledge of God and styles himself a child of the LORD. To us he is the censure of our thoughts; merely to see him is a hardship for us, because his life is not like other men’s, and different are his ways. He judges us debased; he holds aloof from our paths as from things impure. He calls blest the destiny of the just and boasts that God is his Father".  (Ws 2:13-16)

These were their thoughts, but they erred; for their wickedness blinded them, and they knew not the hidden counsels of God; neither did they count on a recompense of holiness nor discern the innocent souls’ reward. (Ws 2:21-22)

SIN IS LIMITTED TO THE WORLD

As it is written, "For God formed man to be imperishable; the image of his own nature he made him. But by the envy of the devil, death entered the world, and they who belong to his company experience it. (Ws 2:23-24)

SALVATION FROM SIN

Jesus Christ died for our sins and was raised by the Father as our Lord and Savior. His persecution, torture, sufferings and death in the hands of men were all predestined to happen as it is written, "Let us see whether his words be true; let us find out what will happen to him. For if the just one be the son of God, he will defend him and deliver him from the hand of his foes. With revilement and torture let us put him to the test that we may have proof of his gentleness and try his patience. Let us condemn him to a shameful death; for according to his own words, God will take care of him.” (Ws 2:17-18)

These words in the Book of Wisdom was written about a hundred years before the coming of Christ. The author is unknown but he prophesied the manner in which salvation will come to the world through our Lord Jesus Christ.
