At the time of your rest, pray with humility for those who have wicked deeds heaped up above their heads and their guilt reaches up to heaven. From the time of your fathers even to this day great has been the guilt, and wicked deeds of those who are in power. They have delivered over to the will of the foreign lands. They have brought the nation to the sword, to captivity, to pillage, and to disgrace, as is the case today.
Pray for the Lord’s mercy, which gave you a stake in His holy place; thus your God has brightened your eyes and given you relief in your servitude. In your servitude, God has not abandoned you; rather, He has turned the good will towards you.
He has given you new life to raise again the house of God and restore its ruins, and fence.
REFLECTION
Today, the Senate again will conduct its hearing on live broadcast, the alleged bribery scam in enormous proportions of the ZTE National Broadband deal entered into by the government through the Department of Transportation and Communications. Invited or summoned to appear were Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos who is the alleged broker of the deal and former NEDA Chief Neri who can be the missing link to shed light in this controversy. The whistle blower is no less than the son of Congress Speaker Jose de Venecia.
During the last Senate hearing, it was reported that the agent from the Presidential Anti-Graft Commission who was investigating the case got sacked. No less than the husband of the President was likewise implicated in this bribery scandal. He was also invited but sent word through his lawyer that he is abroad. With this deal, the government will again incur a huge foreign debt to China.
Are they really after the welfare of the country and its people or are they just interested on those huge bribes that run into millions of dollars?
Let us all pray to the Lord for our current leaders of the land, that they may see the light of the responsibilities vested upon them to bring this nation and its people forward and not to suck blood from them.
In a very special way, let us also thank God for making us stakeholders of His church as we continue in our servitude towards building His house.
