Give to the Lord, you Sons of God

GIVE WHAT IS DUE

How do we account for our time, talent, and treasures?

In Matthew 22:21 the Lord said, "Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."

Rationalizing or making excuses is part of human behavior. One can easilly say, "I can not possibly serve the Lord at this time because I am too busy. Besides, He knows that I must take care of my family. Anyway, I bring them to Mass during Sundays and I offer whatever amount I could give as part of my obligation to Him".

In your own appreciation, do you think that such an explanation is good enough for the Lord? The reasoning seems to be valid and justified but if you are in God's shoes, will you accept and be satisfied with a limited portion of this person's time, talent, and treasures?

We can be this person today and what the Lord said can be a challenge for us to look deeply in our hearts and ask ourselves, "Am I being fair with the Lord in terms of rendering what is due Him after making me what I am today?"

Give to the Lord, you sons of God, give to the Lord glory and praise, Give to the Lord the glory due his name; adore the Lord in holy attire. (Psalm 29:1-2)
