A HOUSE OF PRAYER

In Luke 19:46, the Lord said, "My house shall be a house of prayer; but you have made it a den of robbers."

"Since I set foot supervising the construction project of our church, not even once have I seen the Parish Priest go out of his way to visit and talk to me at site, and see the accomplishments I have done. Worse, whenever they present an update of the work in progress to the congregation during Sunday Masses, they do not even bother to announce that this is our project. I spent each whole day until late evenings at the church doing this voluntary work. I have fired out quite a lot of laborers who are lazy and quarrel it out with other church leaders who sees a lot of things in what I am doing."

A person who volunteers his service in the church can have the best intentions to do so, but if he comes unprepared to do such noble work, he will turn sour and bitter to an opportunity rather than receiving its fruits that are sweet as honey. To be prepared for work in the Lord's house does not only require resources, skills, and talent. First and foremost is to understand that you are in the Lord's house which is a house of prayer. Before any work could be done, you must first humble yourself and pray. Only then will you experience the power of the Lord's hand at work.

It is not by accident that God chooses people to be His instrument in completing the work that He has begun in the lives of His people. Such people were chosen not to glorify themselves whenever a mighty work has been done through them but instead serve as living examples for other people to glorify the Lord. Whatever we say or do, most especially when we are in or around the Lord house will definitely reflect upon our very own image and character. In 1 Peter 4:11 it says, "Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen."

What have we made of the Lord's House?
